2018 Merced County UAV Flier

Join us at the 2nd annual UAV field day at Bowles Farming near Los Banos, CA

There will be displays and demonstrations of autonomous flight by teams from the UC Merced and CSU Fresno schools of engineering, the UC Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources, as well as by Bowles Farming's on-staff pilots. These flights will demonstrate how unmanned aerial platforms are being used as a new tool in field scouting and other crop management activities.  Imaging for weed control, evaluation of crop nutritional/irrigation status and remote collection of weather station data, as well as actual pesticide applications with this new technology will be discussed. Brad Anderson from Yamaha Motors will be on hand with an RMax Remote Piloted Helicopter display to answer questions about how this state-of-the-art aircraft is being used in Northern California Vineyards, what FAA regulations must be followed, and requirements for licensing to pilot this UAV.
